I already saw this movie but since it was a while back and since I had it on DVD, I thought I might as well check it out again. In fact, I saw the damned thing in the movie theater when it was released and, back then, it was a big event. Indeed, it was DreamWorks first CGI animated feature so the expectations were pretty high. Eventually, it didn't get much love but I always had a weak spot for this flick. For some reasons, 'A Bug's Life' which was released during the same period of time turned out to be more popular but it is in my opinion one of Pixar's weakest movies and, in my opinion, this movie was slightly better. Of course, 20 years later, the animation feels rather outdated but it still looks pretty good. Above all, it was a masterstroke to have a neurotic ant voiced by Woody Allen and, if they would have kept this grown-up tone and tried for example to make a Woody Allen comedy in this insect world, it would have been really awesome. Unfortunately, they went for a generic story about an average ant trying to save its colony which was much safer but also rather boring. Anyway, in spite of its flaws, it was a decent watch and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
