On paper, this movie should have been a massive guilty pleasure for me. Indeed, I always had a weak spot for the heist genre and to have the sexy Catherine Zeta-Jones and the charismatic Sean Connery working together seemed like a great idea. However, unfortunately, even though all the ingredients were there, the whole thing turned to be rather underwhelming after all. The first issue was that either Sean Connery was too old or Catherine Zeta-Jones was too young because the 40 years old gap between the two stars was just too big and, as a result, I really had a hard time to believe in their relationship. Furthermore, the story was just too convoluted and it was borderline ridiculous. Indeed, in my opinion, a good heist movie should manage to show something incredibly difficult to do but it should always seem to be possible because it is this way much more compelling to watch. In this movie, the plot was increasingly preposterous and, towards the end, there were so many twists that the whole thing didn’t make much sense anymore. To conclude, I didn’t care much about the damned thing and I don’t think it is really worth a look, even if you like the genre.
