It has been a while since I have seen this flick so maybe I should re-watch it at some point. Back then, Cameron Crowe was quite a successful director (something that would stop after 'Vanilla Sky', also starring Tom Cruise) and this movie was another critical success. To be honest, I never really understood what was really the fuss about this flick. Indeed, sure, I did like it, it was a decent watch and it was above all quite entertaining but I can't say I was really blown away by the whole thing. I mean, first of all, I have nothing against Tom Cruise, I think he can actually be a decent actor but, in my opinion, he is really interesting only when he gets some really challenging material like in 'Interview with the Vampire', 'Magnolia' or 'Collateral'. In this movie, he basically plays his usual charming and charismatic lead and he did a good job, I'll give you that, but the main character, at the end of the day, was not really fascinating, at least, that's what I think . To conclude, even though I tend to think that it is slightly overrated, it is still a pretty good flick and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
