To be honest, I wasn't exactly dying to watch this movie but one of my colleagues actually gave me this DVD so I thought I might as well check it out. Well, eventually, even though it was a decent watch, I can’t say I was really blown away by the whole thing. Sure, it was a well made and fairly spectacular epic medieval tale but, in my opinion, it was just really too slow for my taste. I mean, I don't mind when a movie almost reaches 3 hours, as long as it has something interesting to say, but, in this case, I had a feeling that they were dragging the whole thing out for no good reasons except to make it more epic. Still, Charlton Heston, after playing Ben-Hur, Moses, and fighting some talking apes, was able to portray this time a legendary Spanish knight and the guy certainly delivered the goods once again. Concerning Sophia Loren, to be honest, I'm not really familiar with her body of work but, even though she did look voluptuous, she didn't really convince me. To conclude, even though it didn’t really impress, it was still not bad at all and it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
