In the early part of 1963, the television series Route 66 came to Port Aransas to film the episode ' In the Closing of a Trunk'. You will see scenes shot at the old Mathews fishhouse, the now 'Souvenir City' and the final scene shot at the ferry landing. It starred Martin Milner, Ed Begley, Don Dubbins and Ruth Roman.
