In 1984, writer Evan Hunter aka Ed McBain revisits Italian Harlem, the New York neighborhood he grew up in during the depression as Salvatore Lombino. He reflects on childhood memories, wanting to be American and the lingering prejudice against Italians. "The great melting pot hasn't happened. We are not one people.
