In November of 1975, the MV Edmund Fitzgerald sank with a hands during a very violent storm in Lake Superior. This tragedy has become something of a regional legend thanks to the song by Gordon Lightfoot. The last vessel to be in contact with the doomed vessel was the MV Arthur M. Anderson, which also was the first ship to go back out into the stormy swept lake to try and rescue any survivors.
