On April 28 2007, Don Bowden's mile record was broken at Cal. Don Bowden was the first American EVER to break 4 minutes for the mile when he ran 3:58.7. It took almost 50 years for this record to be broken when David Torrence, only with the help of his pacers and teammates, was able to achieve this feat.
