David Ames, who was at the War Department Dec 7,1941 received the message from Pearl Harbor about the Japanese attack. Active for more than 3 decades in the community, he was President of the Ames Free Library, a member of the Easton School Committee, President of the First National Bank of Easton, and instrumental in the former residence of his aunt Mary Ames Frothingham becoming the Easton Town Offices.
