English Lyrics by Mort Shuman & Eric Blau. I first saw the play, "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris" at the Village Gate in Greenwich Village in late 1968. The music of Brel remains very close to my heart. Brel refused to tour the US during the war in Viet Nam. He was scheduled to finally make the tour after the war ended, in the late seventies, when he died (October 9, 1978) He was 49 but his music lives on.
