Inkheart is an upcoming 2009 fantasy film, directed by Iain Softley. It is based on the 2003 German novel of the same name by Cornelia Funke. The film was first slated for release on March 19, 2008, but has been pushed back to January 9, 2009, partially because of New Line's marketing worries in connection with now-concluded 20072008 Writers Guild of America strike.
