I watched this when I was in Grade 12 back in 2008, which propably cost me a lot of marks I could have otherwise gotten, but who cares? At the time I was enthralled in it, but afterwards I kind of wondered why I had watched it all the way to the end. In retrosepct it didn't seem to be susbstantial enough. So I'm glad I read everyone reviews about it, because it makes me feel like I didn't waste my... read more

TIn some distant future, it's common knowledge that all wolves have been extinct for 200 years. However, it seems this is false as wolves have not disappeared but rather have taken human form. Kiba, a lone wolf, wanders into a city, trying to sniff out the Lunar Flowers that are supposed to lead whoever follows the scent to paradise. The source of the smell is Cheza, a girl who sleeps in what appears to be suspended animation in a lab. She and the wolves are drawn to each other, and Kiba hopes to find paradise once he finds the source of the scent of Lunar Flowers. However, once Kiba finds Cheza, she is kidnapped by a mysterious person called Darcia, and his search begins anew. Before he leaves the city, he meets 3 other wolves, Tsume, Hige and Toboe. All four wolves have very different personalities and ideas, and their friendliness towards each other is a little rough around the edges. However, they soon band together to continue to search for paradise.
"Kiba, Tsume, Hige and Toboe are wolves, thrown together by chance. They have a destiny yet to be foreseen. The world is falling apart, truely ending. Can they suvive to change it?"
"Besides its originality and amazing characters, the story and just everything else is so interesting you just can't stop watching even if you had a choice. The furry and bloody action sequences just roar at you from your screen. It's just awesomeness in a withered world. Did I say the cast actually consists of wolves?"

It is a brilliant anime series I can now realise again. I guess that at the time, however, I wasn't able to distinguish my own angst from the series' brilliant yet arid melancholy. This is probably what made me think that it was rather unsubstantial and unaffecting, and not give it the credit it deserves for its bleak but unique atmosphere.
""The world where you will go hand in hand with the flower maiden has neither perfect happiness nor joy nor life. This is because it also does not contain perfect sadness nor misery nor death. What lies in waiting is a paradise for wolves alone, the unclean humans are no more..."

"I have to rewatch this series because it has been to long since i watched it. Its a good fantasy show, with good characters and a bit of a phylosophical plot."
"Wolves haven't disappeared, just taken a human form. Kiba, the loner, searches for the Lunar Flower, whiches scent will lead him into the paradise. The source is Cheza, who is kept in a lab. When they find each other, Cheza is taken away by a mysterious person, and Kiba, with three other wolves, start his journey to find her and the paradise.
This anime was the first I watched with original dub, so it would be precious to me, even if it wouldn't be awesome. But it is. The story is slow-paced and"
