David Brent never stops. The American Office balances the characters' pettiness with extreme sentimentality, but Ricky Gervais never allows his character to be anything but completely horrible. Ground-breaking style, great humor.

I don't meet a lot of fellow Americans that have even seen the original, which I think is a shame. I actually have not watched much of the American version, so this is not a review to slam the American version or to compare the two, thank God.
