This show was one that appeared and disappeared several times and then would pop up on a random channel and I'd get excited to watch it. It could be compared as a precursor to Family Guy, you have a totally random thing happen that makes you laugh, and it immediately cuts to the next scene. Another show where the humor is lost on some people.

"It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it."
I encourage everyone to watch the episode of "The Critic" on which Siskel & Ebert guest starred. I think it's by far the best episode of that series (and co-creator of the show Mike Reiss agrees).
I purposely put an image from "The Simpsons" here just because I love the sight gag so much, but I put it under "The Critic" as a list item, because that seemed natural for a list about this beloved critic. "

"I have no problem saying that Jay Sherman is my spirit animal.Jay Sherman was a film critic on ABC’s (Later moved on to FOX) The Critic. The show was created by Al Jean and Mike Reiss of The Simpsons. The show was off the wall hilarious. The Critic was a very quick witted, well written show. The show starred Jay Sherman a NY film critic who had his own television series called Coming Attractions.
Jay Sherman was very sarcastic person who kinda hated everything. His film reviews mostly ended with hi"
""The Critic" (ABC, 1994; Fox, 1995): Admit it -- you've totally come out of a big-budget Hollywood disaster like "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" and let loose with a loud, "It stinks!" Plus, it inspired one of the best "Simpsons" episodes ever and had a great vocal cast, led by Jon Lovitz."

"If Family Guy and Futurama can come back from cancellation, why not The Critic? In my opinion, this show is on the same level of humor as South Park and early seasons of The Simpsons. Just imagine how they could parody TODAY'S movies. "

"This show never received the support it needed on Fox, where it ran for two seasons. I watched it on Comedy Central reruns and loved it. With better use of cutaways than Family Guy (and 5 years earlier) this show was ahead of its time.
