Low production quality, although standard for anime-esque shows, takes this first season from superb to fine. I know the message is the meat and potatos here but this still looks half cooked.
Great show, great characters, irregular voice acting and scripts. I hope this problems will be polished out in the second season and I will be in true love with this show.

The series' inception predates McGruder's former comic strip, The Boondocks, although the comic strip was the first to come to full production. The Boondocks is a social satire of American culture and race, revolving around the lives of the Freeman family – ten-year-old Huey, his younger brother Riley, and their granddad Robert. The series is produced by Rebel Base in association with Sony Pictures Television and is currently airing its second season on Adult Swim.
The Boondocks takes place in the same place and time frame as its comic counterpart. The Freeman family, having recently transplanted themselves from the South Side of Chicago to the peaceful, fictional suburb of Woodcrest, find different ways to cope with this acute change in setting as well as the drastically different suburban cultures and lifestyles to which they are exposed. The perspective offered by this mixture of cultures, lifestyles, and races provides for much of the comedy on which the series plays.
The TV-MA-rated satire premiered on November 6, 2005. The fifteen-episode first season ended on March 19, 2006. The second season premiered on October 8, 2007 and is expected to consist of twenty episodes.... (more)(less)

"An african-american anime comedy based on a comic strip. Who would've guessed that it would be fantastic? Only fans of the also great comic strip.
Tackling race issues in a way that no other show does, The Boondocks never falters in quality."

"I loved the comic strip & was heartbroken when it ceased running. Thankfully Aaron McGruder decided to turn it into a cartoon, and the results have been very rewarding. The show still retains the humor and social commentary I enjoyed from the strip, and I love that it invokes some anime influences too. The only time I complain is when Riley gets more time than Huey, since Huey to me has always been the heart & soul of The Boondocks."
