Overall opinion: Very cool
I've been slowly working on this one since January and I finally finished all 16+ hours of this beastly documentary. It's one of the best docs on film I've ever seen. It is incredibly thorough and lovingly made. It focused a lot on showing the influence of history, creativity, and other films on film. It had a lot of actual film examples and best of all it was a worldwide study, giving classic examples of national cinema from all ove"

"Continuing with what is essentially an entire cinema-survey course put to film. This 15 part series is easily one of the most impressive things I've come across in recent memory. I've now watched all 15 hour long installments- it's been a very informative, interesting, and absolutely enjoyable journey. The narration from Mark Cousins is insightful and enthusiastic. And really, I have a hard time imagining a voice I'd rather listen to 15+ hours. It's a great resource for anyone interested in the "

My brother clued me on this after stumbling upon it on Netflix. What I've seen so far this month (Eight 63 minute installments) is magnificent. I'll be tackling the remaining 7 installments over the course of the next several weeks.
It's truly striking me as a MUST WATCH for lovers of cinema.

Toisena eksymisen ääripäänä toki silkka vammaisuus, jossa Baz Luhrman on joku kiistaton post-modernismin nero. Puutteita on toki turhankin helppo löytää, joten ei niistä mitään. Itsestäänselvyyksien ohessa sisältää kuitenkin isot läjät erittäin mielenkiintoisia elo"

Sometimes the show focuses too much on not very interesting films to try to show a comprehensive view of world cinema, spends too long on the films from areas with less rich film history, and explores in detail the works of the filmmakers who they get to interview, whether or not more interesting directors haven't been discussed enough. Despite those flaws it's very interesting, especially if you want an introduction to the technical aspects of films.

The series tries to provide a comprehensive look at cinema, including places that have less interesting film histories. Mark Cousins focuses a little too much on the careers of less important filmmakers, like Baz Luhrmann, who he gets to interview, instead of more important directors. This is a good introduction to cinema."
