This is one of those miniseries that I go back to again and again, either to rewatch the whole thing through (yet again) or just to watch certain sections over. Based on the novel by Elizabeth Gaskell, the story has been compared to Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. Yes, there are many similarities.

The biggest similarity is the relationship between Mr. Thornton and Margaret. They both dislike each other at first, don't understand where the other one is coming from, but over time fall in love with each other. It is just at the point where they both believe they will never win the other person's favour, and where they may never see that other person again, that everything evolves into a happy ending.
