Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service (2003)

I initially thought that NCIS was just another CSI clone but after watching a few episodes I became a believer - I never expected to enjoy this show as much as I have. The episodes move at a quick pace and the cases are interesting enough to grab your attention and hold it. The writers are not afraid to let story archs develop over the season (sometimes over multiple seasons) which makes for really good character development. Threads of a mystery are initially spun and only fully developed in later episode (The Meat Puzzle, DiNozzo's undercover work are ones that comes to mind). NCIS is currently one of my favourite scripted shows on tv. It's definitely not your everyday crime show. This show's just as much about the characters as it is about the crime of the week, if not more so. That's one of my favourite things about NCIS actually, that it focuses on how people who are so different from each other work together. What with main characters being the goth lab tech, the English doctor, the hard ass leader, the movie buff playboy, and the IT geek. NCIS is also a show that brings the funny. When I first got into the show I kept asking myself 'Is this show being this hilarious on purpose'?

"NCIS? Is that anything like CSI?"
"Only if you're dyslexic."
