fresh and captivating

I couldn't agree more with moonsoar's review.

I just watched this show's first season, and found it refreshingly captivating.
I also enjoy the fact that the team members can replace anyone else in the team; so you don't always get Enrico Colantoni as the negotiator (for example).
Emotions, ethics and morals play a big role here. You understand why the characters go through something illegal and unethical; and it makes you wonder what you would do in such situations...
Also true: the cast is excellent.
And this is a Canadian show... FINALLY a great Canadian show I'm proud of!

One of the newest crime dramas, FlashPoint centers around a strategic response unit while they work in situations with hostages, bombings, gang violence, etc. I had been expecting just another mediocre crime drama with this show. I am so glad that I was wrong. What stands out most about this show is that it plays more on your emotions than the other shows of it's kind - it makes you empathize with the criminals, the victims and the people working for the SRU. Take episode 4 of season one - Who's George. This man had been working as a security officer at the bank for close on thirty years when he is let go at the same point where his wife needs to go into a home due to early onset of alzheimer's.
