Reviews of Family Guy

Superb entertainment!

Posted : 2 weeks, 6 days ago on 25 April 2008 04:18 (A review of Family Guy)

"Lucky there's a family guy!"

Family Guy is basically The Simpsons on crack. Each episode is filled with random gags, hilarious one-liners, off colour gags and memorable characters. This also marks one of the most quotable cartoons in existence. I don't think I can remember the last time I could frequently quote a show without getting sick of it.

So why does Family Guy work so well? Other shows try to focus on laughs as well as interesting drama. But the drama and meaningful underneath just ruins everything. I realised after the umpteenth season of The Simpsons that if they focused just on the laughs then the show would be a lot better.

My prayers were anwered. Family Guy moves from one hilarious memorable scene to the next. It's brilliant because of how genius each and every episode is. Plots are clever, ideas are creative, characters are exceptional. In the space of one week I found myself watching about 55 episodes. It was all I did of an afternoon. And I thought it was fantastic!

Family Guy had such a strong entertainment influence that it tainted my image of other shows. I flipped on The Simpsons again not too long ago and found it painful to watch. Family Guy is the future of cartoon comedy. It has been cancelled so many times but comes back with a vengeance. If every show was of this high standard then TV would be a whole lot better.

The voice cast of Family Guy is sublime. The characters are well thought out and conceived. It's hard to choose just one favourite character because they are all so hilarious. Peter, Quagmire, Brian, Lois, Stewie - the list is endless.

Family Guy is also notorious for its clever parodies. Every episode could spoof several films in the space of 21 minutes. They also spoof TV shows and popular culture. The gags are so random but so funny. The creators of this show are genius.

I can't imagine a world without Family Guy. Its high entertainment value points out the flaws in other cartoon programs that just aren't funny after so many seasons. In its seventh season, Family Guy is still fresh. If anything it gets better with age. I could watch an episode everyday and never get sick of it.

This show is essential viewing.

My rating for this keeps dropping

I view seasons 1 thru 3 as 10/10, 4 maybe a solid 7 out of 10, but 5 and 6 and onwards? what the hell?!? even the bloody stale SIMPSONS are giving us more 'fresh' material these days.

Did anyone see the latest episode, the one with Brian moving in with his blonde girlfriend? WTF?? I honestly didn't find a single joke in the entire episode, except for the ongoing novel joke at the end credits. the rest of it was such garbage. And i noticed they don't do any more of their signature 'flashbacks' that usually had the best lines. now it feels like a bloody soap opera! son gets job. daughter is jealous. dog moves in with gf. they have relationship issues. they break up. ugh! what the hell? did Family Guy lose all their writers recently?

I was a big supporter to have the show brought back to life both times Fox canceled it early on in its life, but now I'm about ready to beg Fox to kill the show already. its dead, PUT IT OUT OF ITS MISERY PLEASE!

Used to love it, but now i hate it

It used to be my favorite show, but lately, it's jumped the shark and nobody seems to notice the show is beginning to stink like a rotting piece of fish.

Same jokes, same jokes, same jokes. AAARGHH!!! i loved the first few seasons coz of all the original puns and jokes they threw at us, but now its like 'oh, the Peter vs Chicken fight was funny and well received in a previous episode, so i know, lets re-use it and make them keep fighting for almost 10 minutes out of our 22 minute long show. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!.... not...

Give us FRESH jokes, please.

A Collection of Terrible One Liners

Posted : 1 year, 4 months ago on 11 January 2007 10:55 (A review of Family Guy)

Mostly this show is about getting in some pop culture reference from at least 10 years previous. Most of the time there's not even an actual joke associated with it, it's just so older people can go "Ha Ha I remember that: (choose one) commercial/tv show/song/news event/food/fad/movie/celebrity/monkey throwing poop"

Stewie is sometimes funny, but it's not worth is slogging through the entire show for one funny moment that won't even make you laugh out loud.

And don't say I don't get it... Because I get it. It's just not funny.

This makes me happy. From the opening sequences to the local references to the Boston (MA) area, to the inside jokes that you get if you watch the show regularly... it's great stuff.

"It's ok, we can go to the Twinkie factory in Natick!"
