Extremely underrated Spielberg thriller!

This is a Steven Spielberg film that truly is underrated. It is very tense with a lot of Hitchcock-like suspense. This suspense of Duel leads to the suspense in Jaws. This film wasn't on for very long at all but the thrills and action never seemed to stop. It was a film that wasn't a well-known film from Steven Spielberg especially when Jaws and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind were released bec... read more

A good movie

To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie. Anyway, this movie was and still is the stuff of legends. Indeed, what was supposed to be a rather small TV feature became a surprising success, one of the most heralded directing debuts and the start one of the most impressive careers in motion picture history. Honestly, in my opinion, the plot was in fact rather thin and you can't s... read more

100 & 99 Of My Favorite Films From The 1970's (199 movies items)

"While I usually try to keep only films that were released in movie theaters on these lists 'o' mine, every once in a while I come across a piece of TV cinema that's so good, that for me, it's quality ranks up there with the best of theatrical releases. Duel is a good example of this type of smallscreen cinematic excellence. Not surprising, considering that it is Steven Spielberg's major film debut (well, at least from my memory it is). And with just the use a big ol' rusted semi-truck, a lone"

2016: Films I've Watched in August (28 movies items)

"First watched 8/31/2016 They often saw that simple concepts make for the best stories; and I think Duel is the embodiment of taking something basic and translating it into an amazing ride! There's a reason why this is regarded as one of if not the best made for TV films and that's because the people who worked on this project truly cared about what they were making. Steven Spielberg's camera work and passion for film making really does shine through here. Seriously this has to be one of the be"

A good movie

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie. Anyway, this movie was and still is the stuff of legends. Indeed, what was supposed to be a rather small TV feature became a surprising success, one of the most heralded directing debuts and the start one of the most impressive careers in motion picture history. Honestly, in my opinion, the plot was in fact rather thin and you can't say that the characters were very well developed either but the directing was just really impressive. It is even more impressive when you think that it was Spielberg's very directing effort. Back then, he didn't have such a huge budget as nowadays but I think  it gave this feature some kind of purity, a simplicity which was sometimes lacking in the movies he made later on in his career. Later on, ” read more
