The Most Overrated Bands

This is a post/threads for those that feel they should express which bands/groups/people they feel are OVERRATED.

My Nomination: LED ZEPPELIN

HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT BOO HOO WHY?!?!?

Well they did not start metal, a popular misconception and they're overplayed. I do think they're talented and they're good, I'm not saying they aren't. The thing is EVERYONE, most LOVE THEM and say they're the best. That is the definition of overrated= not as good as they're made out to be yet everyone loves them. get over it..they aren't "GODS", such a gay term, so lame. They're so overplayed it's unbelievable.

Bonham and JPJ are Gods for rock and roll.

I nominate:Nickelback, and Disturbed

Disturbed, The Eagles, U2, The Beatles(even tho I love them), Linkin Park, Journey, Coldplay, Ac/DC, Aerosmith, Rage Against The Machine, Metallica. Those are my other tops. I'm sure there are others haha

If I'm honest, I don't truly know enough about music in general, or the history and evolution of all things music to confidently declare many artists "over-rated".

But that won't stop me from sharing who I just don't get or plain hate that a bunch of people adore. That list looks like this:

Can't believe I'd missed Coldplay and Kings of Leon in my list. Heh.

And I agree on not seeing the appeal of Cake and any of the Pearl Jam clones (3 Doors Down, Creed, Nickelback, Eve 6, Our Lady Peace, and all the other bands that sound exactly like them).

I'll give you Journey too. Meh.

I'm not going to quote bands like Linkin Park or Lady Gaga because they are the usual commercial trash that always was and will always be succesful.
Although I love The Beatles, I have to say they're overrated. But I think they are a pretty good band to be "the best band ever".

Now, I think all the 70s and 80s "hard rock" is REALLY overrated.
AC/DC, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Guns 'n' Roses (THIS BAND, MAINLY) and all that but Led Zeppelin is nothing but trash.

Oh, I almost forgot one of the most overrated movements in history: GRUNGE.
God damn, I like some musics, okay, but Kurt Cobain was not "the last rocknroll heroe" or something like that, for god sake.

I am going to say Nirvana

First off with Nirvana; I don't see how Kurt Cobain is cited as a "great" guitar player. Just study his work, power chord mania, and he really could not play much. Never got the hype around them. I admire Dave Grohl as one hell of a musician from guitar player to drums, and he's released some great work over the years with the Foo Fighters, but I never got the whole buzz about Nirvana. Just not for me.

And yeah I agree with Kurt Cobain, he wasn't the "last rock and roll hero" if anyone saved Rock and Roll it was the hard rock bands in the late 80's, and the re-surging Blues players SRV and Albert Collins had it going on a right track.

The Rolling Stones - there is just something very lazy about them

Madonna - strip away the visuals and you are left with a few average pop/dance songs

but the most over rated of all time

Love - seriously I cannot see why people get excited about them - One hit wonders with Alone Again Or, which IS a brilliant song, but the rest is all foregttable
