Bothersome People

I tend to meet some rather rude, arrogant, catty, domineering, manic, and/ or irritating people. These people exist everwhere, correct? They get..... Well, bothersome (see title). Am I the only one with this problem? Are there efficient ways to deal with them?

I'm sure everyone has. Better to develop ways to deal with them earlier on than leave it to adulthood when you have to do so while trying to hold a job and raise a family.
One thing I've always known about myself is that I hate debates. I haven't always been very good at avoiding them, and used to get easily sucked in, being too prideful to just let it slide. More recently, I can tell when a debate is on its way and what people to be especially wary of when it comes to knowing when to stop. I also pick places and sections of places which are less hostile when it can be controlled (for instance, I left the Sega forums because the people there are especially flame-ready).
Since you tend to meet people like that, my heart goes out to you. They say isolation is one of the worst forms of torture... I'm sure being in the company of bothersome people is up there as well though.
