"Chamado de “complicador da tropicália”, o músico baiano costuma ser fonte de saudáveis polêmicas. “Todos os olhos”, de 1973, foi considerado um disco inovador demais, o que acabou afastando o músico da mídia, até que David Byrne (ex-Talking Heads) resolveu lançar sua obra no mercado internacional nos anos 80. Em seu álbum mais recente, “Danç-Êh-Sá” (2006), ele encarna o DJ Tão Zé, que discute a juventude consumista atual por meio de ruídos e onomatopéias. "
