Favorite bands currently active (42 person items)"Why not in my top?
While they ARE one of the best live bands in the world, their musical output has been uneven. Of the 6 albums they've released I listen to 3 of them regularly, 1 occasionally, and the other 2 I think I've managed to sit through twice without turning them off in favor of something else."
Most anticipated albums of 2011 (25 person items)"Title: TBA
Release date: TBA
According to a Dec. 9th Twitter post, The Mars Volta were finishing up their 6th album. The other 5 range from brilliant & amazing to uneven yet interesting, so I'm curious to see where this one will fall among the rest. Apparently the originally planned 6th album was scrapped because Omar Rodriguez-Lopez decided it was "too boring" to release, so hopefully this one will be outstanding."

I love his voice (54 person items)"Cedric Bixler-Zavala
I have no idea what his lyrics are about, and I don't care. The passion in Cedric's vocal delivery is so powerful that he could sing about anything & I'd still feel it.

13 Creepy Rock 'n Roll Stories (13 person items)"The creative process of "The Bedlam in Goliath" - forth and most recent album of The Mars Volta - was filled with creepy incidents. According to the group, it's all because of a Ouija board that Rodríguez-López bought during a trip to Jerusalem. From that point, the drummer left the band in the middle of a tour, the vocalist needed a foot surgery, the studio flooded and many records disappeared.

Best Live Bands (50 person items)"Truly amazing...The Mars Volta get on stage and just jam the entire time they play, but you don't need to be on anything to enjoy it. The first time I saw them they played 6 songs over the course of 2 1/2 hours. High-energy, intense, a show that grabs your attention and doesn't let go until they're done, and yet leaves you wanting more."
