The name The Killers is derived from a logo on the bass drum of a fictitious band portrayed in the music video for the New Order song "Crystal".The group has released three studio albums, Hot Fuss (2004), Sam's Town (2006) and Day & Age (2008) with a fourth entitled Battle Born, scheduled for release on September 18, 2012. They have also released one compilation album, Sawdust (2007) and one live album and DVD titled Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009). To date, the band has sold over 6 million albums in the United States, over 5 million albums in the United Kingdom, and over 15 million worldwide.
Hot Fuss is the debut studio album by Las Vegas-based American rock band The Killers, released on June 7, 2004 in the United Kingdom and on June 15, 2004 in the United States.
The album was recorded between February and November 2003 at Cornerstone Studios in Berkeley, California, with Mark Needham and Jeff Saltzman; and in Las Vegas with the help of Corlene Byrd. Many of the tracks were originally recorded as demos, which the band decided to keep for their spontaneity. They did, however, have some tracks remixed by Alan Moulder at Eden Studios in London.
Hot Fuss is mainly influenced by New Wave and post-punk artists such as New Order, The Cure, Morrissey (with and without The Smiths), Duran Duran, and The Cars. Other influences include David Bowie, U2, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, and Lou Reed.
The album includes the second and third parts of the so-called Murder Trilogy, "Midnight Show" and "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine". The first part, "Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf", appears on The Killers' B-sides and rarities compilation, Sawdust.
Sam's Town is the second studio album by American rock band The Killers, released on October 2, 2006 in the United Kingdom and the following day in the United States. Regarding the album, vocalist and primary lyricist Brandon Flowers noted that he "wanted to create an album that captured, chronologically, everything important that got me to where I am today". Sam's Town is estimated to have sold over 4 million copies worldwide to date.
The album debuted at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling about 315,000 copies in its first week. It became the band's second number 1 album on the UK Albums Chart, selling about 260,000 copies in its first week. To date it has sold an estimated more than 5.5 million copies worldwide. It has been certified Platinum or multi-Platinum in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Argentina, and Ireland. Sam's Town also produced multiple charting singles including the Platinum chart topping single "When You Were Young". It was the second album by The Killers to receive Grammy nominations.
Day & Age is the third studio album by American rock band The Killers, released in November 2008 in the UK, Canada and the United States. Frontman and lead vocalist Brandon Flowers stated that it is the band's "most playful record." To date, Day & Age has sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Following the release of the album, the band embarked on the hugely successful worldwide Day & Age Tour.
The first single from the album, "Human", was released to radio on September 22, 2008, and became available for download on September 30, 2008. The band performed "Human" and "Spaceman" on the October 4, 2008 episode of Saturday Night Live. They released the video for "Human" in October 2008.
"Spaceman" was released for download on November 4, 2008 in the US. The vinyl edition was released in the US on November 18, 2008, and included a free download of the album from Island Records. The music video was released in January 2009.
The third single varies from country to country. "The World We Live In" is the third single in Europe and Australia while "A Dustland Fairytale" is the third single in the United States. The single "The World We Live In" has been described as "a song that gives you a disney/floating in the air feeling" by music critic Brian Narvaez.
Battle Born is the fourth studio album by Las Vegas-based American rock band The Killers, scheduled for release on September 18, 2012.
After the Day & Age World Tour ended in January 2010, The Killers announced that the band would be going on a hiatus. The band ended the hiatus when they began work on their fourth studio album in May 2011 at their Las Vegas studio. After a year of recording the Killers revealed in May 2012 that their fourth studio album will be titled Battle Born. Songs recorded for the album include "Battle Born", "Runaways" , "Miss Atomic Bomb", "Heart of a Girl", "Flesh and Bone", "Carry Me Home", "Here On Out", "Here With Me" and "Rising Tide". During recording the band worked with producers Steve Lillywhite, Damian Taylor, Brendan O'Brien, Stuart Price & Daniel Lanois. The album is currently being mixed by Alan Moulder who also worked on the band's first two albums. The album will be released on September 18, 2012.
On June 7, 2012, The Killers released a trailer for their new album Battle Born. The first single from the album is "Runaways", and received its first radio play on July 10, 2012.

MR BRIGHTSIDE
The Killers
I'm coming out of my cage
And I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep
And she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head
But she’s touching his chest
Now, he takes off her dress
Now, letting me go

LEAVE THE BOURBON ON THE SHELF
Shakin' like the Devil when she lets me go
Got a new place, and how it's so much better
Falling over myself, the televisions' on,
I turn it off and smile
Oh, Jennifer, you know I always tried
Before you say goodbye
Leave the bourbon on the shelf
And I'll drink it by myself
And I love you endlessly,
Darling don't you see I'm not satisfied
Until I hold you tight
Give me one more chance tonight
And I swear I'll make it right
But you ain't got time for this
