" Williams's play Orpheus Descending opened on Broadway. It was a critical and commercial flop, closing after only sixty-eight performances. Williams became deeply depressed and underwent psychoanalysis. Two more of his plays soon flopped as well.Substance abuse contributed to Williams's collapse. In the mid-1950s, Williams started using drugs and alcohol to deal with his constant anxiety. and found dead from overdose."

"Tennessee Williams was a famous playright, best known for his play “A Streetcar Named Desire”. He was born in 1911 and had a hugely successful writing career, winning many awards for his works. Williams battled alcoholism and depression throughout his life, but it was a strange accident that eventually led to his death in 1983. He choked on a bottlecap from which he had removed from a bottle of eyedrops and placed in his mouth. The bottlecap slipped down his throat as he titled his head back"
