Music reviews by EveryoneTokyo Police Club - A Lesson In CrimeThese Canadian indie scene newcomers have signed to Saddle Creek since the release of this debut EP, A Lesson in Crime, and listening to it makes you understand why. The quality present here is undeniable. Short, fierce pop songs with catchy hooks and strong use of instruments and voice all around. At times, the voice of Dave Monks is whiny, but he redeems himself with another burst of unexpected notes or original lyrics. The only downfall, according to many reviewers, is the short time of the disc: around 15 minutes. However, for me this was quite refreshing and it makes you want to listen to the record all the more. In a month, the first real record of this band will be in stores and I'm more than ready for it. 0 comments, Reply to this entry

Still rocking after 34 yearsIt's hard not to compare any of Bruce Springsteen's new albums with his vast body of previous work. Does it measure up or not? Is he in decline or does he still have it? Which is why it takes a couple of listens to get to the songs on this album. Compared to the rest of his work, this isn't the best. The production is too heavy handed on a few tracks and his voice only really shines when the production is scaled back, but it does shine like it always did. He's still a great storyteller, like he always was. He's still mixing the political and the personal, making a sweeping universal comment by exploring a personal story. I'll cut this short and say, he still 'has it'. Another 34 years is unlikely, but at 58, he still rocks. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
So GoodI first heard of Coheed and Cambria back in 2003 after the release of their second album, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3 (which is mind-blowing), but i was young, stupid, and only attracted to the most poppy-sounding song on the record. It wasn't until my brother had me listen to Live at the Starland Ballroom that i really got into them. I was blown away. I had never heard a band sound so good live. Their sound was so unique and refreshing that I immediately fell in love. The music itself is completely out-of-this-world fascinating and the live record really won me over because i could tell that Claudio Sanchez has a stunning voice, and that he, Travis Stever (guitar), Michael Todd (bass), Josh Eppard (drums, prior to current drummer, Chris Pennie) are very, very talented musicians. I recommend Starland to everyone. Its life-changing. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
And I thought Live aus Berlin was great. For the poeple that don't know, Rammstein is a German industrial band that are well known all over the world and been a favorite of mine since 1999 and I heard Völkerball was coming out I knew that it would be great but I heard there was a limited edition I just had to get it, even if it cost me $150. The limited edition has the full Nîmes, France 2005 concert on two CD's unlike the standard version with the best of the concert, live footage from Nîmes, London, Tokyo, and Moscow; a making of the Reise, Reise album and long video of interviews with the band, and a awesome tour book with pictures from the concerts in beautiful artistic black & white photos. Whenever I'm going to a concert that has a band that I really like I'm always a little worried that they sound terrible and I would lose all respect for their music and never hear them again. But when I heard Rammstein's Live aus Berlin live album I haven't been worried and been wanting to go see them live and this live album is making me really want to see them. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
...And the rest with follow to the awesoI'm been a fan of Project 86 since their Truthless Heroes album and when I heard this album was coming out I was excited and looking forward to a great album. But what I got was their best album to date. From their first few albums Project 86 was a rap-rock band, which was a good Christian alternative to Rage Against The Machine, but after Truthless Heroes album they went to a hard rock/post hardcore band and in ...And the Rest they pretty much mastered that sound having really hard and catchy music and lyrics that have a dark tone and sometimes critical of the church but somehow still sounds very Christian which is weird in the industry but still on par with the bands other previous songs. In whole I really like the band and this album is a must listen for any hard rock fan even if their not a Christian. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
