Grand Theft Auto IV review

Posted : 3 weeks, 4 days ago on 1 July 2008 04:29 (A review of Grand Theft Auto IV)

I've done about 10% of the game and it's proven to be fun so far. I haven't played any of the GTA games before this one. It's not exactly an FPS, it's not exactly an RPG and it's not exactly a racing game either. It's not aimless meandering either, though you can do that if you want to. The missions so far have been varied which keeps things interesting. The missions will probably get tougher from here on.

The scale of the whole game and Liberty City is impressive. I still haven't been across the bridge yet (it's blocked by the police) and have already logged in ten hours of in game time. The attention to detail is extremely impressive too. All the characters have distinct personalities and it seems like so do the random people on the street. There's a bunch of radio stations in the car and the programming on all of them is keeping with the theme of the game and it's setting. Like I said, the detail is impressive.

It's not hard to see why this game series is extremely popular. The missions varied, the attention to detail is impressive and there very good integration of a storyline with the gameplay. Not my favourite game, but reasonably entertaining and immersive nevertheless.

UMMMM? NO.

Posted : 3 weeks, 4 days ago on 1 July 2008 01:10 (A review of John Woo presents Stranglehold)

This game fails on many levels. The gameplay is no good with the shooting being extremely difficult along with the graphics not being up to par, with the addition of the horribly created slow motion feature. They tried too hard to rip off the amazing classic "Max Payne". this game needed a few more months of development to even closely relate to any mediocre game.

An Amazing Video Game.

Posted : 3 weeks, 4 days ago on 1 July 2008 12:56 (A review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time)

This is one amazing video game. Yes, the concept is simple, just beat up bad guys hitting the same buttons over and over again, but that is amazingly fun and addictive especially if you completed the game a few times with friends. This game will be remembered for years to come, is an instant classic and easily the best game ever for the Super Nintendo.

The Greatest N64 Game.

Posted : 3 weeks, 4 days ago on 1 July 2008 12:51 (A review of Mario Kart 64)

"Mario Kart", is the greatest Nintendo 64 Game ever made hands down. There are are other games that are close in greatness, but Mario Kart prevails. The gameplay is perfect, with so many options to choose from, the game just never got old, and was always fun, even still to this day. Mario Kart Is Champion.

Not So Good.

Posted : 3 weeks, 4 days ago on 30 June 2008 09:27 (A review of Burnout Paradise)

"Burnout Paradise", is not really worth playing more than once. The reason I say that, is because the gameplay is extremely repetitive and frustrating at that. The graphics are great, and the stunts are pretty cool, but the game is just not put together well enough to be considered a very good game.

Gameplay: 8/10

Graphics: 9.3/10

Entertainment Value: 7.9/10

Replay Value: 6/10

Overall Rating: 7.3/10

Virtua Tennis 3 review

Posted : 3 weeks, 6 days ago on 29 June 2008 02:51 (A review of Virtua Tennis 3)

I loved the original Virtua Tennis from six or seven years ago. They've kept the excellent gameplay of the original and suitably improved the graphics and the career mode. The players are more current (I was surprised that Tommy Haas is still in there) and there are more locations to play with. The career mode is the biggest improvement with tons more tournaments and training exercises. I could play this game hours on end (I already did).

Quick update: It took me about 20 hours to become the top ranked player and win the 'King of Players' tournament. Feels a little short but then you can still keep playing matches even if you've reached the number one ranking. The game doesn't 'stop' when you win.

Quite Amazing.

Posted : 1 month ago on 20 June 2008 06:58 (A review of Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy)

This game is amazing in almost every way, but I gave it a 9 out of 10, and not a 10, why? because the shooting needs to be improved. It is way to hard to shoot an opponent, and even if you do shoot them, it is not very realistic. Other than that aspect, the game is amazing with the hand to hand combat. The hand to hand combat, is the best I have ever seen. The story is amazing as well, featuring a great cinematic experience, excellent graphics, and smooth storyline. Jason Bourne is bad-ass in this game, and I hope to see a sequel. This is one of the best video games on x-box 360.

Not Fun.

Posted : 1 month ago on 20 June 2008 06:53 (A review of Mass Effect)

"Mass Effect", is not a horrible game, It just doesn't appeal to me. The gameplay, is wierd, and not fun. The graphics are great, and the story line is excellent, but it is like a Halo type shooter, with the weird guns, and creatures, and such, and those kinds of games just aren't my cup of tea. I know those aren't very big aspects to a game, but it makes the game that much worse. I might have liked this game if the gameplay was changed around a lot.

Weird Game Cover

Posted : 1 month, 1 week ago on 18 June 2008 04:38 (A review of Phalanx)

Phalanx is your average space shooter on the SNES but it has some of the most weird box covers I have ever seen and why false advertising. The old guy with the Banjo does not even feature in the game why this happened I read somewhere that the developers added the man to attract customers as many space shooters where on SNES at that time. The game is OK but to me it's just pretty much the same as most space shooters and I for one am not a big fan of this type of genre.
