Description:Trent Reznor has always been a one-trick-pony, but it's a damn good trick: sunny melodies filtered through ferocious electronics. Unfortunately, the trick's impact was often watered down by a tendency toward petulance and self-absorption. Still, almost six years after NIN's last release, The Fragile, the trick itself has lost none of Trent Reznor has always been a one-trick-pony, but it's a damn good trick: sunny melodies filtered through ferocious electronics. Unfortunately, the trick's impact was often watered down by a tendency toward petulance and self-absorption. Still, almost six years after NIN's last release, The Fragile, the trick itself has lost none of its Teen-Beat-from-hell appeal. With Teeth blisters from the start with "All the Love in the World," and tracks like "The Collector" take full advantage of Dave Grohl's sledgehammer drumming. Reznor stretches occasionally, trying out different tactics, from crunchy, overtly commercial rave-ups ("The Hand That Feeds") to borderline New Wave ("Only"). But Teeth isn't about stretching. It's about doing the same trick, only better, with less clutter and more bite. By neatly distilling the sparseness of Pretty Hate Machine with Downward Sprial-style density, it ends up being the most focused record in the NIN catalog. -Matthew Cooke... (more)(less)

"Strange that despite almost 10 years difference in age, Trent Reznor has managed to perfectly capture my thoughts and feelings throughout his career. On this album his lyrics on the following songs hit even closer to home than I expected them to. I'd written some pieces in my notebooks that were very similar to both.
"Every Day Is Exactly the Same"
"Right Where It Belongs""

"with_teeth tour fall 2005
Again NIN rolls into town shortly before Halloween, but this time there's no sign of the make-up or costumes (well, no more than the occasional goth usually wears anyway).
The first band of the night this time is Death from Above 1979, a two-piece that creates more noise than should be possible. As their set progresses their songs get better and elevate the audience's excitement. This is a good thing.
The second band of the night is Queens of the Stone Age, a band I'"

"Reznor reflects on his dealings with addiction and recovery, as well as opening his newly-sober eyes to the world around him. While it doesn't take any new risks sonically, the lyrics are as honest as ever and shows that, as a person, he's finally growing up."
