It was the first of two LPs released in 1977 which Pop wrote and recorded in collaboration with David Bowie. Although issued after Low, the opening installment of Bowie's so-called Berlin Trilogy, the pair began writing and recording songs for The Idiot in mid-1976, before Bowie started work on his own album. Iggy Pop's debut solo album after The Stooges split, this is exactly on par with the best of their material. Iggy Pop wrote this with his close friend David Bowie, right at the start of Bowie's Berlin Period. Written and produced around the same time as Bowie's Low, they share a strong connection. Experimental music inspired in part by Krautrock (especially Kraftwerk) but forging enough of its own unique style to be a breakout album of its own. Lyrically, this album is exceptional"
"Back when Iggy was actually cool, not some obnoxious old fuck trying way too hard to create the illusion of being cool and failing miserably. The music is some great Eno-esque post punk, with Iggy's then effortlessly badass voice"
