Pink Moon is the third and final album by British musician Nick Drake. It was recorded at midnight in two separate two-hour sessions, over two days in October 1971, featuring only Nick Drake's vocals and guitar, as well as some piano later overdubbed by Drake on the title track.

There have been a lot of ideas regarding what the song “Pink Moon” is about. Some say it’s about death, and given Drake’s emotional state at the time it makes a great deal of sense. However, I always find myself thinking of Laurie Lee’s poem. Maybe it’s because most of Nick Drake’s songs sound like they were written in a cool green forest, someplace mellow with morning sun and shimmering leaves. Strange how such a sad man could write such soothing music.

"Nick Drake suffered from insomnia and depression throughout his life. Three years and nine months after recording Pink Moon-album he died from an overdose of amitriptyline which he used as an antidepressant. It is not certain if he commited suicide or not. "
