Nirvanas second album. Kurt, Krist and Dave were absolute genius in making this album. The strongest song to date is none other than "smells like teen spirit".
This album is the voice of our generation, certainly an instant classic. Kurts vocals were brilliant, Hard and Raunchy yet at times soft and soothing. This album will not soon be forgotten.

This is the highest moment of the Grunge movement. I remember entering in a store in Miami (or was it Amsterdam? I can't quite remember...) back in 1992 and listening to this gem. I was only a teenager at the time and did not follow the scene per se, but at the first chords of Smells I was already hooked.

After this album their work only declined and others followed Nirvana's trail,... read more

"Can't believe this is the first time I've listened to this album. While I knew quite a bit of songs from this album, there were some I haven't heard before. Every song on this album is perfect and I'm disappointed in myself for not listening to this album earlier. "

" I was young when these guys first came out and I got to experience it first handed. When Kurt Cobain was alive, he was well liked cause well, why couldn't you like him? He gave the finger to the idea of celebrity worship and gave his music everything he had. Isn't it funny when he died and rose to saint hood everyone wanted to call him a guitar god and glamorize him when he hated it to begin with? Death does wonderful things and he became guitar god according to the dumb fucks at Rolling Stones"

“Music doesn't always have mass appeal just because it conforms to the lowest common denominator. Sometimes it really is just that good. And you can make the argument that everything is derivative - all music builds upon something that came before it.” read more

Best albums of 1991 (28 music items)

"Overrated, but still an excellent album nonetheless. I can't deny that it held power over me for a while, but I was never as in love with Nirvana as a lot of people were (and in some cases still are). Personally when I listen to Nirvana I hear their influences come through (some of which I prefer over them), and while it may have been appreciated at the time the way this album brought "alternative" music to the mainstream it also yielded a slew of shitty bands stealing from the artists that beca"

“By: Nirvana

Release date: 1991

Standing track: Come As You Are

1991 was quite a unique year of it's own: We got Slave to the Grind, Metallica (Black) and also Music for the People... OK, bad example but will do. But 1991 is historic because of Nevermind, the album responsible for bringing both Nirvana and Grunge-rock to a more wider audience. The immortal classic Smells Like Teen Spirit is something that everyone has heard of but my most favourite song is Come as You Are. Overall, the album sure is great and one should have it in his over-piling mess of CD's!” read more
