Layla remains among the absolute best songs Eric Clapton ever produced in his lifetime. This album would be worth listening to just for that song. Fortunately, there's plenty of other good music on here as well. The other song I love here is 'Anyday'.
Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs is a rock album by Derek and the Dominos, released in November 1970. It is often regarded as Eric Clapton's greatest musical achievement, although the album was a group effort.

"Layla, Layla, Layla. This is one of my all time favorite records. Little does many know just how hardcore Eric Clapton was on drugs during these recordings. Duane Allman really saved this album, and deserves the credit he still does not get for it. Clapton's Heroin addiction had taken a major toll on him after the break up of Cream. Derek and the Dominos were just a jam band similar to the Allman Brothers.
The High Factor: Layla is regarded as one of the greatest rock albums of all time. I thin"
"Duane Allman
Perhaps the greatest thing to ever happen to Eric Clapton was meeting Duane Allman. Without Duane this album would not have been such a classic and his abilitiy to push the musicians around them passed barriers and further their creativity is one reason he was the leader of his own band.
I don't think it's Clapton's fault that he gets most the credit for the classic Layla, as he does always talk about Duane's role in this line up. If you know the difference between a Les Paul and"
"Duane Allman and Eric Clapton together, can't find a better match than this. Clapton already an established Blues player, but Duane Allman brought the best out of musicians, and without him pushing Clapton and his killer dual harmonies, Layla would not the classic it is today. Of all albums this is one I hold on a high pedestal but since it gets so much critical acclaim I try not to shove it down everyone's throat.
There is so many riffs, to all these songs here, you could spend an entire 12 mo"
"Eric Clapton - Vocals/Guitar
Duane Allman - Guitar/Slide, Acoustic Guitar
Jim Gordon - Drums/Percussion/Piano
Carl Radle - Bass
Bobby Whitlock - Organ, Piano, Vocals, Acoustic Guitar
This album has always held a piece for most people, and is acclaimed as one of Eric Clapton's finest work. For my opinion, Clapton gets way way too much credit for Layla. You have to ask yourself: "Hmmm would this album sound so beautiful without Duane Allman?"
If you ever listened to the first few Allman Brother"

"As much as Clapton pisses me off, I can't deny the title tack. It really does kick ass, especially that intro. One of the finest "classic rock" tunes out there. The rest of the album, with the exception of a few things like "Key to the Highway" and "Bell Bottom Blues", is totally forgettable"

""Eric Clapton was tired of stardom, so he formed a new band where he could be just another one of the lads. But there was no mistaking the blues guitar on "Layla," as Clapton sang about falling in love with the wife of his best friend, George Harrison. The tortured love songs on Layla get a kick from guest Duane Allman, one of the few guitarists who could challenge Clapton - it's like a blues-guitar battle tape. Clapton and Allman had never met before the sessions, but their interplay in "Key to "
