But it's also a surprisingly mature record from a band that had, after all, been at it for 12 years already. The original jazz-funk instrumentals hold their own with the group's favourite sample sources. Their voices are modestly buried in the mix, and they've tempered their old snottiness with lyrical compassion: check out "Bodhisattva Vow", a salute to Buddhist spirituality. --Douglas Wolk... "I've always loved this album for the ways the B-Boys branch out their sound. There's a pair of hardcore/punk songs ("Heart Attack Man" and "Tough Guy"), some instrumentals, a little reggae, all of which seem to fit in nicely with their own unique brand of hip-hop. I also love this album for the lyrics, which are among their best.

Was going to choose this as my song of the week anyway since I finally watched The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, which this song references (and is the first place I ever heard of the film). Great movie by the way. But then Adam Yauch AKA MCA died, so a Beastie Boys song is necessary for this week.
I loved the Beasties from the first time I heard "Fight for Your Right (to Party)" when I was a boy, a love that was sustained all the way up to their album Hello Na"
