Conceived as his formal coronation as the "King of Pop", HIStory's second disc instead presents Jackson as an epauletted, single-gloved Richard III. By turns paranoid, angry, bitter, sentimental, and, in one instance, possibly anti-Semitic, HIStory was less a collection of songs than a case history. A few tracks--mostly those produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis--are sleek, modern pop/soul, but too much of HIStory has the overblown vacuousness of a musician who knows his time is past, but is unsure as to how to react to the situation. --Steven Mirkin

"HIStory is Michael Jackson's known greatest hits he released in the mid 90's.
The best part about the collection was one disc you had the hits he made famous, the second disc you had new songs, including the controversial 'They Don't Really Care About Us'.
The original print of the album is out of print today.
There is a double standard in the music industry. There was outrageous over Michael's lyrics in They Don't Really Care About Us, he got called racist and blamed for hating on jews (The"

Important because: Childhood favorite and brings back lots of memories. People always say that Thriller is the best album from MJ but I prefer HIStory and Bad. They Don't Care About Us is the best song from MJ."
"Song: Smile
Lyrics:
"Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just...
Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky""
"The only negative aspect about this album is that it doesn't contain Smooth Criminal! I listened to it a lot as a kid and that always grated on me. One song away from being granted 10/10 status. I've listed it as owned, because what's theirs is mine. "
