He's big down under, Dave Seaman, so it's only right he should deliver a mix for Global Underground that reflects his love affair with Aussie club culture. Maybe they like the man for his lack of pretension, his adventurous spirit, or just his far-ranging scope of styles; a repertoire that takes in everything from ethnic breakbeats to eerie, fractured house. Whatever, CD1 highlights this subtle eclecticism, blending weird tribal dub and beardy electronica into a steep incline of pounding technoid shapes. CD2 hits the right note between the downbeat and the esoteric, weaving earnest but rich progressive house into the equation, each track stripped back to bare threads of melody and hypnotic military rhythm. Some are a tad listless, like the Chicken Lips mix of Infusion's "Star Water", but most, like FC Kahuna's old school "Glitterball", say all you need to know about Seaman's roving eye for the party.--Paul Tierney
