O mais recente trabalho de estúdio do Queens of the Stone Age é, sem dúvida, um dos melhores de toda a carreira da banda. O disco é repleto de hits. Canções ótimas com toda aquela veia rock and roll. O primeiro single e destaque de "Era" é "Sick Sick Sick", famosa música na qual Julian Casablanca participa. Casablanca deixa transparecer, junto com Homme, que "Sick Sick Sick" é de longe, umas das melhores músicas do CD e com um refrão bem grudante. A canção com o melhor estilo QOTSA é "Battery Acid", stoner rock puro. O disco também concede espaço paras as baladinhas, como "Make It Wit Chu" que exala sensualidade com uma levada Beatles. Era Vulgaris starts off with three blasters—“Turnin’ on the Screw,” “Sick Sick Sick” and “I’m Designer”—perfectly mixing krautrock coldness and punk chutzpah, but hitting those record highs, the band sets a pace that it just can’t keep up with. Filler tracks like “Into the Hollow” and “River in the Road” rear their heads and hopes of another Rated R are quickly dashed. Having said that, the first three songs and closer “Run, Pig, Run,” prove to be jewels in the Queens crown, so keep your finger on the skip button.
