This is probably my least favourite Pixies album. I only really like a couple of songs, notably track 7 and...

Well let's just say it fails to reach the heights of other Pixies albums. The added inclusion of songs like 'Here comes your man' really ruin any flow that the record has, and you have to wonder why a band as talented as the pixies are recording songs like that in the first... read more

Description: Doolittle is the second studio album from the American alternative rock band Pixies, released in April 1989 on 4AD. The album's offbeat and dark subject material, featuring references to surrealism, Biblical violence, torture and death, contrasts with the clean production sound achieved by the then-newly-hired producer Gil Norton. "February 5th-11th "Where Is My Mind?" This week I watched 4 movies whose main characters had various mental issues. So this song seemed appropriate."

"Day 28 - A song that changed your music taste in some way I first heard this song when a good friend introduced me to this album, shortly before the term "alternative" was coined to define a music genre. Nothing ever sounded the same after I heard it (and every song that followed it on the album). See also: I was a preteen metalhead"

I was a preteen metalhead (62 music items)

"My skater friend introduced me to another guy in our neighborhood, and he was completely in touch with underground music. We bonded over punk, and then he introduced me to a bunch of bands I'd never heard of. The first one I fell completely in love with was Pixies, and it was this flawless album that did it for me. This was my introduction to the soon-to-be-popular loud-quiet-loud dynamic that Nirvana (he played them for me too) delivered to the masses. Along with this came my introduction to b"

"Pixies kind of introduced me to the so called indie rock genre, at least when it comes to the late 80's - early 90's artsyfartsy stuff. Plus they made some of the greatest pop songs with some of the greatest lyrics ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mCoOlUjhlc"

""Kurt Cobain himself acknowledge the Pixies' influence on the soft/loud dynamic that powered "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Doolittle is a mix of the band's earlier hardcore storms, Black Francis' self-described "stream of consciousness" rants, and the strange melodicism and surf-metal guitar that defined the Pixies.""
