This deluxe double CD, priced the same as a single disc, pairs Diane Cluck's second full-length Macy's Day Bird with the EP Black with Green Leaves. Macy's Day Bird was released in an elaborate, tiny handmade edition in late 2001, and Black with Green Leaves followed almost exactly one year later. They are arguably Cluck's most compelling, immediate and striking works, and it was these two recordings that originally caught Important Records' ears in 2001.
Macy's Day Bird/Black with Green Leaves, newly restored and mastered by James Fei, is highly recommended to the many new fans that picked up on Diane Cluck after the release of 2005's Oh Vanille/Ova Nil. The attentive listener will find her hauntingly clear voice weaving melodies of love, pain and city life through sparse arrangements of piano, acoustic guitar and harmonium.
