Though it sold in the eight-figure range worldwide, to some ears Bad suffered in comparison to its predecessor, Thriller. While not as visionary as that record-breaker and Off the Wall, the 1987 album does find Jackson and producer Quincy Jones continuing to work their craft at a high level. As it had with Thriller, radio embraced nearly every cut. Airplay saturation helped make the likes of "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Smooth Criminal," and the title track major hits in their day; they ring with confidence and good feeling more than a decade later. The self-involvement that would make the new material on History (1995) sound so curdled had yet to overtake Jackson; even his plea to "Leave Me Alone" displayed a sure wit, particularly in its video version. While the third best of his first three Epic solo discs, Bad carries a lot of what people love about Michael Jackson's music. --Rickey Wright

When I first listened to Bad all the way through, I had to wonder to myself, if this truly was Michael Jackson's best album. He gives us a run for the money when we praise Thriller, as Bad is a second close to it. Personally, I'd say it's his best album, but that's just me.
Gone are the Disco elements and replaced with more heavy dance music, as thi"

"The 2001 reissue of Bad.
I never owned Bad but I have been told that there is some major differences on the 2001 reissue to the original album which are the title track being replaced by the 7" single mix, and Smooth Criminal being a remix. If anyone can verify this, please let me know.
Like Thriller, this has numerous interviews with producer Quincy Jones for those that find historical value in Micheal's catalog. It's a great album I just have not finished listening to it yet. "

As Jacko is infinitely less embarrassing than Will Smith, I'll go with him. I think everyone in my age group was a fan back in his heyday, I was hooked on his music. Thanks to this video and years of practise, I can now operate jukeboxes from the other side of the bar and do the limbo forwards. "

""Excessive? Michael Jackson? After Thriller turned him into an international pop phenomenon, he spent $2 million and two years of work on the follow-up. The title song came with a seventeen-minute video by Martin Scorcese that cost another $2 million. Bad gave Jackson more hits to add to his collection: "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "Bad," "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Man in the Mirror." He also began to vent some of his darker emotions in public, raging against treacherous women in the vio"
