" I have to admit it took me a while to get into Black and Death Metal, I think mainly because the mainstream rock press (ie Metal Hammer and Kerrang) that I read at the time were so dismissive of the vast majority of extreme metal, treating it like a joke for the most part (while ironically hyping bands like Limp Bizkit).
