A concept album, it provides a scathing critique of the social-political conditions of 1970s Britain, and presents a marked change in musical style from their earlier work. Animals was recorded at the band's studio, Britannia Row, in London, but its production was punctuated by the early signs of discord that several years later would culminate in keyboardist Richard Wright leaving the band. The album's cover image, a pig floating between two chimneys on Battersea Power Station, was designed by bassist and writer Roger Waters, and produced by long-time collaborator Hipgnosis.
The album was released to generally positive reviews in the United Kingdom (UK), where it reached number two. It was also a success in the United States (US), reaching number three on the Billboard album charts, and although it scored on the American charts for only six months, steady sales have resulted in its certification by the RIAA at four times platinum. "This album will always remind me of my realitionship with Poppy. But apart from that this album gives me new hope. The tracks are very long, but you won't notice that, because when you listen to it, your head starts to transform into a cinema where you start to see the things in live different. Every Pink floyd album gives you a big space for fantasy. "
"Here's something interesting for you. An album based on George Orwell's Animal Farm, and an analysis written by someone that's never even touched Animal Farm.
I could write something for the 4 Pink Floyd albums (Dark Side, Animals, Wish You Were Here, The Wall) but I chose this one for a reason. I think The Wall is very important but it's meaning has been beat to death and covered at least a million times. What I tell you about The Wall has already been told by everyone with a brain.

"Is this really underrated or not? Hard to believe, this one indeed falls between the cracks. It became 'underrated' to me when Pink Floyd decided to remaster their entire catalog.
People have argued for years between Dark Side Of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall as to what is their best record. So when it came time to cash in on everybody buying the same album for a third time, it was interesting to see how the band decided to do "Experience" editions to Dark Side, Wish You We"
"First CD I ever owned
First Pink Floyd album ever owned
Age: 9

This record too was the very first CD pressing of Animals from Columbia records. It did have artwork (folded out with hand written lyrics and a few photographs) and like most CDs back then, it had the "Compact Disc" logo in the c"
"I think Floyd are pretty overrated in general, but I do really enjoy Dark Side of the Moon and, to a lesser extent, the Wall. This, however, is utterly tedious"
