Failed movie franchises part 2 (108 movies items)

" Note: In the mid 80's, they made a movie based on Sherlock Holmes and John Watson solving a mystery together as kids. The movie ended with a cliffhanger leading up to the a sequel and hoping for a new series of movies. The movie got decent reviews from critics, however it didn't make enough money at the box office to start a new Sherlock Holmes movie franchises. Nearly 25 years later, they made a new Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey, Jr. which end up being a big hit and started a new "

Why Aren't These Gems More Fondly Remembered? (15 movies items)

" Another little cult movie that I watched due to a random recommendation, and I'm very glad that I got the chance to view it. Here's a wonderful Spielberg-produced adventure movie with an Indiana Jones vibe that's extremely entertaining and good-natured. Just look at the clip above. Despite being young, Sherlock's dialogue is intelligent, and that really goes for the whole movie: it's smart and well-written."

“"It was a wonderful, heroic moment for Holmes. But little did he know that his amazing powers and talents would soon be put to a much greater test, a test of terrifying and deadly proportions."

An unjust box office flop upon its release, 1985's Young Sherlock Holmes was reportedly intended to be the first film in a new franchise, and it's a genuine shame that such plans never materialised. Years on, it has become a cult item, and for good reason - this is an exciting action-mystery which delivers robust entertainment for kids and adults alike. And the fact that it works so well is a bit of a surprise, as it's an American-produced motion picture shot in Britain starring unproven young actors, but the end result is extremely assured, another little-seen '80s gem which deserves more” read more

"The poignant scene in which teenaged Sherlock Holmes' (Nicholas Rowe) love interest Elizabeth Hardy (Sophie Ward) blocked a bullet intended for him, with her dying exchange with him: (Elizabeth: "Don't be sad" Sherlock: "Someday, we'll be reunited, another world, much better world" Elizabeth: "I'll be waiting. And you'll be late, as always") ; after she passed away, Sherlock nuzzled her close to him as a teardrop ran down the bridge of his nose and he cried out: "Elizabeth, no... No!" -- marking"

"John Watson: Well, I knew it. This is the end of my medical career. My father's going to be furious. I always knew that making friends with you would end up in disaster. John Watson: I can't afford to jeopardise my medical career! Sherlock Holmes: Weasel. John Watson: I'm not a weasel. I am... practical. Sherlock Holmes: Weasels are practical. And I imagined you courageous and stout of heart. John Watson: I am courageous. And I'm stout of heart. It's just that... oh, all right. I'll do it. "

"If you haven't seen this one, you may enjoy it. It plays out a little more like an action movie, but I don't think the creators of this story were going for a traditional Sherlock Holmes story. "
