If imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, then Brooks must really love the old Frankenstein films. Brooks, Wilder, and Kahn were a dream team and worked together very often for a reason, or twelve. The best performance comes from Peter Boyle though -- for exhibits as to why view the "Puttin' On the Ritz" scene (a classic), the blind hermit, and when the monster, uh, meets Kahn's character, Elizabeth. There's so many great lines and gags to quote and imitate that that would take an entire essay to just document on their own. My personal favorite might be what Kahn yells at Boyle right after having sex with him: "Oh. Where you going?... Oh, you men are all alike. I used to watch this with Blazing Saddles back-to-back a lot while I was growing up. It's one of Mel Brooks' better movies, and a great performance by everyone involved (including a bunch of the same people in a lot of his movies).

Take an old Frankenstein movie and run it through Mel Brooks' head. That about sums it up.
