Yellow Submarine

Sophisticated animation is a hard thing to pull off, but leave it to something associated with the Beatles to pull it off in spades. Yes, the character designs look crude and don’t have a fluidity to them that other animated films do, but the collage aesthetic of the film adds a texture that plain animation is incapable of having. That is the sophistication. It’s also the best example of why this is considered a head film for the whole family. There’s no denying that is. But it is also a delightfully witty, charming and stunning film to watch. Besides, it features songs from Magical Mystery Tour and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. So you know the soundtrack is better than pretty much any other animated film, ever.
