An ok adaptation of one of my favorite books, Wuthering Heights. I really enjoyed watching Juliette Binoche in the duals roles of Cathy/Catherine. Never been a fan of Ralph Fiennes and this movie didn't change that. When I read the book, I actually felt sorry for Heathcliff and understood why he did the things he did later on. Fiennes's portrayal of Heathcliff just made me want him to go away.<... read more

Heathcliff is Cathy Earnshaw's foster brother; more than that, he is her other half. When forces within and without tear them apart, Heathcliff wreaks vengeance on those he holds responsible, even into a second generation.

Chewers' 100 Best Movie Scores of the Last 25 Year (101 movies items)

"Ryuichi Sakamoto I like Sakamoto's scores because they're melodically rich, broadly emotional, perpetually organic, chamber pieces that don't sound tied down to offscreen cinematic action. This score could easily be listened to alone as an album having nothing to do with a movie of any sort."

""I pray one prayer, I repeat it till my tongue stiffens. Catherine Earnshaw, may you not rest as long as I am living! You said I killed you, haunt me, then!... Be with me always, take any form, drive me mad, only do not leave me in this abyss, where I cannot find you!... I cannot live without my life. I cannot live without my soul." - Heathcliff to Cathy"

The Best Period Films You MUST Watch (76 movies items)

"A sweeping, epic production of Emily Bronte's classic tale of star-crossed lovers Cathy and Heathcliff, whose passionate love and tragic separation plays out against the verdant Yorkshire moors. This version presents the complete novel and continues the fateful consequences of the doomed love affair as it resonates throughout two generations of the Earnshaw and Linton families. The movie is dark, which is how it should be with this story. Nice cinematography.” read more
