So, basically this movie is the origins of Wonder Woman. But it is a lot more than that.
In the past WW has sort of been... a bleh, you know? It was as if she was only created as a "Here's a Super Female Hero" to shut the feminist up. With her ordinary powers (super strength, flight) and her rather laughable accessories (Lasso of Truth? and the Invisible Jet which she doesn't reall... read more
Wonder Woman is quite possibly the best of the direct-to-DVD animated features from producer Bruce Timm. Not only does it cover the origin of DC’s second most powerful superhero (only Superman surpasses her in sheer might), but it finds the correct balance between action set pieces, romantic comedy and dramatic moments. This is a most deserving film for the premiere female comic book character. ... read more
" Princess Diana as a true bad-ass.
While it may seem that she should be a staple in any conversation dealing with femme fatale butt-kickers, IMO, she had never been fully depicted as the bad-ass at the level which she had the potential to be.
Then, I picked up this recent straight to DVD feature, & came to the conclusion, that even though it may not yet be at the point that I'd like to see her at, it is a huge step in the right direction.
The Double W may still be in the form of a cartoon,

Diana Prince/Ninotchka: Must you flirt?
Steve Trevor/Leon: It's only natural.
/I don't have to, but I find it natural.
Diana Prince/Ninotchka: Suppress it.
Wow, a reference to "Ninotchka" 60 years later...in a DC Comics animated movie of all places! I already loved the 2009 direct-to-DVD "Wonder Woman" long before I even knew about Garbo or this reference (I really think it was worthy of a theatrical release), but now I love it even more!
This reference is evidence that, as in the days of L"

A direct to DVD release that was better than most theatrical comic book movie releases. A really big surprise to me. I learned a lot about the Wonder Woman character from it, and it made me a bigger fan of her.
I loved the playfully written interaction between she and army officer Steve Trevor, as played by Nathan Fillion.
My favourite performances were by him and Alfred Molina, doing a terrific job playing a comic book villain for the second time."

Something about this chick just rubs me the wrong way. I know she's meant to be a foil for Artemis and just like the Amazon's generally. I know its to show that there are all types of women within the Amazons. But seriously, why? She was just such a cliche. Okay that must sound bad coming from a Wonder Woman movie. But you know what I mean! Right? Right? I mean I was pretty glad

A movie from the DC Universe Animated Originals banner. Tells the origin story of Diana/Wonder Woman of the Amazons. It's a decent movie and attempts to tell a pretty balanced tale - combining action and plot."
