Safe, generic PG-13 extravaganza

"I can't think of a more important job than protecting the President."

Blockbuster extraordinaire Roland Emmerich was last seen provoking yawns with his monotonous Shakespeare drama Anonymous in 2011, and received zero box office interest in return. Looking to get back to his old tricks, 2013's White House Down is a grand, big-budget offering of explosions and general spectacle, wit... read more

"You lost... How do you lose a rocket launcher?!"

Now this was a fun Die Hard in the White House movie. While Olympus Has Fallen took itself way too seriously, had awful action scenes and the most boring leading man in action since Steven Seagal, this movie knew how to have fun with this concept, knew how to ... read more

The action packed movie, " White House Down" is about the inside fiasco in the US government and some personnel vendetta that resulted in chaos and attack on the White House in a bid to take US president hostage. Amazingly the only chance to save the White House, president and onset of WWIII is the agent who just been refused to good enough for the job secret agent.

Un-believable story, but it works.

“Would you believe that the U.S. Army plus FBI plus Secret Services are not able to take down a fence in order to rescue the U.S. President who is being car-chased by heavily armed terrorists on the lawn around the White House?

Of course not. So, do not watch "White House Down" if you are after a solid, realistic story. This is not. That said, this action movie about the takeover of the most guarded residence in the world, with a sprinkle of a political thriller and lots of family values, well, it can be fun, and I must confess it kept me glued to the chair for the long running time of over two hours.

Not a masterpiece in any ways, riddled with cliches--but this full-fledged Hollywood blockbuster works cinematically!” read more

Now this was a fun Die Hard in the White House movie. While Olympus Has Fallen took itself way too seriously, had awful action scenes and the most boring leading man in action since Steven Seagal, this movie knew how to have fun with this concept, knew how to make great action sequences and had two very charismatic actors in the lead roles. I used to be very dismissive of Channing Tatum, but i have really grown to love the guys in the last few years. He has definitely left his Step Up days behind him. Jamie Foxx was also great as usual, even if he is way too young to convincingly play a president. The rest of the cast were also great. Especially the b” read more

Jamie Foxx is who well backed Channing Tatum

“I might be a coincident that two similar movies to release on the same year. Yes it was a similar kinda theme to 'Olympus has Fallen' but a different storyline. In both the movies, white house has been under attack by the paramilitary forces. Like Gerard Butler as a special agent, Channing Tatum is the one man army in 'White House Down' who defends the US president from bad guys to take him as a hostage.

Yes the story was simple as that. I felt Channing Tatum still not capable of handling whole movie by himself. Without Jamie Foxx the movie would have been a tragedy, he controlled the movie in many parts, the saviour. Individually everyone performed very well, especially Joey King was proficient at her acting. I liked her in 'Ramona and Beezus', now I think this movie will give h” read more

Looking to get back to his old tricks, 2013's White House Down is a grand, big-budget offering of explosions and general spectacle, with the screenplay by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man) giving the director ample space to perpetrate scene after scene of wanton destruction, accompanied with a side order of American patriotism. White House Down is actually the second 2013 action movie to abide by the "Die Hard in the White House" premise, after the deliriously enjoyable Olympus Has Fallen. While the earlier flick was a dark, a” read more
