Possibly this was funnier back in 1966, but I didn't find it as funny as it thinks it is. Woody Allen's directorial debut is a mixed bag really. I dig the idea & there are some really funny moments. Unfortunately in between them there are a lot of things that are either not funny at all or else just mildly amusing. A pair of performances from The Lovin' Spoonful serve only to kill the film's momentum (though if you're a fan of their music perhaps you won't mind so much"
